9:00-12:15 am: SPECIAL MORNING WORKSHOP: DEVELOPING AN INTERNATIONAL MARKETING STRATEGY ONLINE: In the past travel organizations had structured themselves so that domestic marketing sold to consumer direct and international focused on b2b through the wholesale channel. Today estimates of direct booking by international visitors via the Internet range between 15-25%, depending on the source country and the destination.  In the future international marketing will integrate online and offline and this year NAJ Summit has will include a special program to help destinations and suppliers better understand this trend.

9:00-9:30 am: What’s Next For The Travel Promotion Act?  It took four years of hard work and coordination by the U.S. Travel Association to pass the Travel Promotion Act, which will create a $200 million fund for marketing the U.S. internationally.   How iwll it actually unfold? How will it be staffed? Presenters: Teresa O’Neill, Director of Travel Trade, Travel Oregon (C); Matt Gaffney, Executive Director, Capitol Region USA (Capital Region USA, a partnership between Maryland, D.C. and Virginia, developed a new sites in their targeted markets to reach travelers in Germany and the U.K.  The program not only directs traffic to tour operators, but also builds an e-mail list to send future newsletters.)
